I’ve noticed a very mysterious thing about cathedrals and churches in our Western civilization, first of all, there is no language for chakras, meridians, or energetic healing besides miraculous healings. There is no language for earth energies. There is no language for the solar geometry used to build these wondrous places. The curious thing is over and over in my investigations, I can see and feel the effects of earth energies and the measurement found in the solar mandala – the actual sacred geometry of the place. The master builders and the priests had access to the knowledge of how to build an energetically powerful and healing site and definitely used it in designing their churches and cathedrals.
They left clues for us to decipher about the energetic treasures left behind. Over and over again I find statues of saints indicating the type of earth energy located in the space. A couple of my favorites are Saint Michael and Saint Marguerite and the dragon, and Mary, Queen of the Heavens standing on a snake. Each of the figures is showing a specific type of vouivre or earth energy present.
Vouivre in French, or Wyvern in English, is a mythical creature in the form of a serpent or dragon, who guards fabulous treasures. In my tradition of the European master builders, the vouivre is related to the energies circulating inside the earth such as water veins and faults. In fact, you can think of these earth energies as treasures that have the potential for energy clearing, healing, and increasing the vibration of a place.
During my research, I have found St Michael is connected with dragons or demons. His dragon story involves him and the other angels fighting a dragon (or demon) in the heavens, the dragon was defeated and cast down to earth. Archangel Michael is depicted standing victorious over him.
It is also interesting to note that one of his earliest temples, called Michaelion, in Sosthenion, Turkey, was built over an earlier pagan site by Constantine the Great in the 4th century. This pagan temple was associated with healing and medicine, and St Michael continues to this day to be associated with healing waters. This makes sense from an earth energy point of view when you learn what type of energy he is revealing to us.
The unique earth energy of St Michael involves a fault within the earth positioned below a water vein. This fault is unusual, the color is yellow, and has a characteristic bubbling up energy that rises to the surface. Because it is below a water vein (think healing water in this instance) it creates energetic steam that rises up and cleanses the energy body of a person standing over this point. It is felt like a tickling sensation on the bottom of the feet and opens the Kidney 1 point on the bottom of the feet, known in both Chinese Medicine and Tai Chi. This important point is where the energy of the earth rises through the body and the meridians, cleaning blockages on its way up these channels. This is a beautiful treasure guarded by the dragon.
St Michael is not the only one to use the dragon to indicate a point of earth energy. I recently discovered St Marguerite of Antioch is placed over the very same earth energy; a yellow fault with a water vein running over it. Her story with the dragon began when she refused to marry the Roman Diocese of the East and renounce her faith. She was cruelly tortured and was swallowed by Satan in the form of a dragon, but she escaped alive when she used her cross to cut her way out of his belly.
If we look at this story through the lens of the earth energy she is placed over, you can clearly see she has “tamed” the vouivre of the earth and has made the point into a valuable place of healing energy.
Mary, on the other hand, is depicted as standing on a serpent or can be portrayed as even crushing the head of the snake, symbolizing she was instrumental in defeating the devil or serpent through the immaculate birth of Christ. In the tradition of the Master Builders, the vouivre that the snake represents is usually water veins.
The Queen of Heaven usually holds her hands in several different positions indicating what type of energy can be found in her location. When her hands are held open pointing towards the earth, this shows a connection to the earth. If they are in a prayer position at her heart level, this indicates cosmic energy which sometimes can be related to opening the heart chakra.
The element that each of these saints has in common is that they conquered the dragon or the serpent. Because of this power, placing their figures on a special place of vouivre or earth energy makes perfect sense. By doing this, the master builders are showing us that they too subdued the energies of the earth. The defeat was made possible by the use of the solar mandala, the real sacred geometry of the place.
To expand on this thought a little further, let us look at an example of a different type of figure placed in a side chapel. These statues can show us how measurements are connected to chakras. One memorable one is a little cherub with
eyeballs on a plate. This chapel opens the eyes, specifically the third eye. The apse and side chapels, where the different saints are placed, are connected to the sacred geometry measurements found in the solar mandala of the location of the church or cathedral. These specific measurements are related to the five elements; earth, water, fire, air, and ether, and also to the chakras.
In this way, the master builder could design an apse or side chapel and through precise measurements related it to any chakra or element like the third eye like in the case above. It was all in the measurements found in the solar mandala!
I love discovering these wondrous energetic points in my investigations. It makes my visits to explore cathedrals, churches and little chapels in Europe richer. Each sacred place along the way shares different treasures of how the master builders, shamans, and priests created special healing places using the combination of earth energies and solar and sacred geometry.
